Boy Scouts Settle California Lawsuit Alleging Sex Abuse

In a follow up to my last blog post, it is being reported by local news sources that the Boy Scouts of America have decided to settle the lawsuit that was in trial in Santa Barbara, CA alleging sexual abuse of a former scout.  The lawsuit was filed by a now 20 year old man who alleged that he was sexually molested by a scout leader in 2007.  The settlement came three days into the trial and follows on the heels of an evidentiary ruling (discussed in my last post), which would have allowed the jury to see documentation of many prior alleged abuse claims dating back decades.  As is typical in these types of cases, the terms of the settlement agreement will remain confidential and neither side will be able to comment on the exact amount of money or other specifics including within the settlement agreement.
