California Legislature Considering Bill to Eliminate the Statute of Limitations for Victims of Child Sex Abuse

State Assembly Bill 131 is currently pending with the California State Legislature and has made it out of committee due to support from the Consumer Attorneys of California.  The bill would virtually eliminate the "statute of limitations" as an affirmative defense to civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse of minors.  As a sexual abuse and assault victim attorney, I am constantly impeded in my efforts to represent the victims of childhood abuse by claims that they waited too long to bring the claim.  Therefore, I am fully supporting this bill and am hopeful that the legislation will pass into law.
