Three Years of Campus Sexual-Assault Statistics Were Too High :: UC Davis News & Information

Despite the fact that this story indicates that statistics for sexual assault on the UC Davis Campus were reported as higher than they should have been, the actual statistics still show almost 30 incidences of forcible sexual encounters over a short period.  In my opinion as a sexual assault victims' attorney in California, these are still alarming numbers for only two campus locations for one University of California school.  Unfortunately, college campuses are one of the most common environments where sexual assaults occur every year.  Oftentimes, these can be traced to some type of negligence on the part of campus administrators, fraternity or sorority organizers and other college organizations or events.  Oftentimes, criminal prosecutions are not pursued or are dropped and the victims' only recourse is seeking civil damages through private counsel.
