Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives announced Friday morning they have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault on Wednesday of an 18-year-old teenager with the mental capacity of a 10-year-old.
LASD Sgt. Dan Scott said officials arrested the man following a search warrant at the man’s South Los Angeles home. Detectives did not provide any further details.
The man was arrested following photos from cameras taken on the bus and LASD say they have video footage of the assault, which lasted 10 minutes.
A Culver City Patch reader contacted Patch saying he thought he recognized the man as someone he saw at Pershing Square Thursday night with the same sweater as depicted in the photograph. He added that he regularly sees someone who fitted the suspect’s description every Tuesday on the Metro Rapid Line #705.
Sgt. Scott will hold a press briefing later this afternoon, where further details will be provided. Patch will keep you updated with this story.
